Overcoming the Empty Offering Plate: Let’s Talk About It!

Eight years ago, I got to share the chancel area with Rev. Andy Odom. I was welcomed into Grace Presbytery for the fourth time in my ministry, and Andy had just been called to be the pastor of Canyon Creek Presbyterian Church (Canyon Creek PC) in Richardson. Throughout the years that ensued, Andy and I have developed a close relationship that allows us to be friends, ministry colleagues, and conversation partners. We have shared meals, laughter, tears, and even some frustrations.
Like many others, I appreciate Andy’s transparency and integrity in his leadership of Canyon Creek PC. He has a quintessential pastor’s heart and a keen understanding of servanthood. Canyon Creek PC is about to put the final wraps on a highly successful capital campaign to retire debt. That seems like an incongruous statement, but under the leadership of Andy and his staff, the campaign was a success. During my forty plus years of ministry, I have served four very different congregations, the Board of Pensions, and TPF. As part of my role at TPF, I have had the opportunity to assist many congregations and organizations with their generosity programs.
Together, Andy and I will be discussing ways to encourage generosity in your congregation, as well as ways to talk about and inspire stewardship. We will combine our experiences in the church to assist you and your congregation as you begin to change the giving culture. Times are changing in the church, and we must ensure we remain relevant with each member of our congregations. This interactive webinar is the perfect place to begin or continue this journey.
